Aubyn Armstrong is a teacher, choreographer and film director. Her training began in 2001, spanning many disciplines including ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern, hip hop, funk, tap, musical theater, and contemporary.
At 13 years old, after years of training and teaching at Trilogy Dance Center, Insight Dance Ensemble, and the San Antonio Jazz Ensemble, she began her endeavor into choreography at the pre-professional and professional level. Various Texas festivals, summits and showcases have featured Aubyn’s choreographic work. After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles to further her artistic career as a choreographer. Aubyn has had the pleasure of working closely with leading contemporary choreographers such as Erica Sobol, Adi Salant, Tilman O’Donnell, David Harvey, Medhi Walerski, Jermaine Spivey, and Spencer Theburge. Aubyn’s main focus while living in LA was to expand her training with these choreographers and apply those skills she gained to dance on film. She has had some of her dance film work shown at film festivals on the West Coast. Aubyn is also working on staff for a new non-profit HAD, under the direction of Ronda Runnels. She is so excited to be working for HAD and to help provide dancers with new opportunities.
Aubyn is inspired to create more choreographic film works and live performances that challenge and expand the culture of dance through her unique and powerful voice.
