
Biography
Laurie LaCour grew up in Victoria, Texas where she trained with Debbe Busby. Her professional training includes American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet, and Boston Ballet on scholarship. Laurie holds a BFA in Ballet Performance from the University of Oklahoma, where upon graduation she received the F. Donald Clark Award, as the graduate with the highest distinction in the OU College of Fine Arts.
Laurie danced professionally for Ballet Nouveau Colorado (now Wonderbound) from 2005-2009. During Laurie’s tenure with Ballet Nouveau Colorado, she originated in roles and danced in works by Robert Mills, Garret Ammon, Amy Seiwart, Heather Maloy, Joshua Blake Carter, LeiWee Chao, and Ma Cong. Additionally, Laurie was part of the ensemble which earned the esteemed Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch”. Prior to her career at Ballet Nouveau Colorado, Laurie was a guest artist in residence with Corpus Christi Concert Ballet and danced with Tulsa Ballet while concurrently receiving her BFA in Ballet Performance. During her professional career, Laurie guested nationally and internationally, performing contemporary works and principal roles such as the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker and Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty. Laurie has choreographed for Ballet Nouveau Colorado and Del Mar College Dance Ensemble.
After her professional career, Laurie spent time traveling the world as a military spouse. Laurie is a certified yoga instructor and while entering her new phase in life, she found a love in sharing yoga with soldiers and military spouses.
In 2015, Laurie was one of twelve selectees nationwide as a Free People “Sur La Sol” contest winner from an image of her dancing on the beach, silhouetted against a Hawaiian sunrise. She was later featured on the Free People Blog in “Laurie LaCour: Once a Ballerina, Always a Ballerina” where she shared the ways in which dance shaped her personal identity.
Laurie’s teaching resume includes Ballet Hawaii, the School of Ballet Nouveau Colorado (now Colorado Conservatory of Dance), Premier School of Dance, and Corpus Christi Concert Ballet.
Laurie is passionate about developing the next generation of ballet dancers while nurturing a healthy body image and ensuring dancer wellness.
